The Piano Teacher

October 10–20, 2018

Lessons on life and love
By Dorothy Dittrich

Erin, a concert pianist, hasn’t touched a piano since her husband died. As Elaine, a piano teacher, gently reacquaints Erin with her instrument, other life changes follow. A simple update to Erin’s home, for instance, brings the unexpected companionship of a contractor, Tom.

"With its beautiful writing, simple design, and sophisticated acting, it’s no wonder this play affected people the way it did." —Ashlie

Audience advisory: Mature themes and strong language

Running time is approximately 2 hours, including intermission

A Spontaneous Theatre creation by Rebecca Northan

Experience all the exhilaration and excitement of new love as Mimi goes on a blind date with a different man every night—plucked right out of the audience! Straight from sold-out runs in New York, London’s West End, and Toronto, this fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants fusion of clown, improv, theatre and social experiment is sure to make you fall in love with Mimi and celebrate her audience-member-turned-Romantic-Hero!

"I’ve seen the work at four different theatres, and am always captivated and excited by it." —Ashlie

Circle Game

February 20–March 2, 2019

Reimagining the music of Joni Mitchell
Created and directed by Andrew Cohen & Anna Kuman

One of the most influential female recording artists of the late 20th century, Joni Mitchell has often reflected on social and environmental ideals through her music. Circle Game reinterprets Mitchell’s iconic songs such as "Big Yellow Taxi," "River," "California," and "A Case of You" through the ears and eyes of a new generation, connecting to the politics and world we know today.

"It’s an ingenious idea—to combine Joni Mitchell’s stunning work with the enthusiasm, curiosity, and charisma of this young and talented cast." —Ashlie

Audience advisory: Mature themes

Running time is approximately 2 hours, including intermission
