Join us to discover nature in the city!

October 10, 2018: Due to a notice by Fortis BC to request customers to reduce natural gas usage following a natural gas pipeline rupture near Prince George, BC, the City will be making changes at all civic facilities to reduce energy use. The City will be lowering temperatures in all civic facilities by 1⁰C, effective immediately. Pool temperatures will also be lowered by 1⁰C.

Please check the Fortis BC website for updates. We appreciate your understanding.

Nestled beside Green Timbers Urban Forest, the Surrey Nature Centre is a place for kids and adults to explore nature right here in Surrey. Check out the various outdoor and indoor drop-in activities, spend time in our Exploration Room and sign up for nature programs. If you're a teacher bring your classroom to experience a hands-on and updated curriculum-linked program.

Drop-in Activities

There's more to explore with these free, drop-in activities:

Daily activities

  • Discovery backpacks: borrow a backpack full of activities to make your visit extra fun.
  • Fishing rod loans: drop by during opening hours to borrow a fishing rod (for free!) and try your hand fishing at Green Timbers Lake.
  • Nature Story Times: held daily at 10:30am in the Sky Room.

Drop-in events

  • Discovery Days: held on every Surrey School District Pro-D day.
  • Nature walks: held the third Saturday of each month.

Nature Programs

Give your child an opportunity to make new friends and have fun outside with our day camps, birthday parties, Nature Preschool, and other early years programs. Daycares and groups can book a private Explore Program for a memorable nature experience together.

School Programs and Teacher Workshops

Teachers, complement your classroom teaching by bringing your class on one of our elementary school programs or preschool field trips, and build your skills and confidence teaching outdoors by attending a Pro-D day workshop.
